Utah Wildflower Wedding

La Madeleine began when I designed the invitation suite & signage for my own wedding in September of 2022.

Invitation suite

Love Is A Wild Thing

I wanted to make the invitation personal to our love story, but also match the vibe and style that we were going for at our wedding.

When we were falling in love, Colton and I spent many evenings hiking in the mountains. I was inspired by our shared love for the beauty of the nature we experienced — especially the wildflowers— and decided to incorporate this into our invites and signage.

Personal Touches and Details

The entire suite has personal touches, and nods to our relationship throughout it. Some of my favorite details include:

  • “Our Favorite Wildflowers” Field Guide: On the back of our “Celebrate” detail card, you can find a field guide to the the flowers used throughout the invitation suite (pictured above). Inspired by vintage posters, the chart on the back numbers a depiction of each flower, while a paragraph underneath contains each number along with the coordinating flower’s name. These are our favorite flowers we would see on our hikes together when we were dating!

  • Carved Aspen Tree: The “M + C” aspen tree you see in the suite (pictured above) is actually a painting of the aspen tree we carved on one of our first dates, a hike back in the summer after high school! Colton (my Fiancé) and I hiked up to this same spot to take our engagement photos with the tree and lovely wildflowers, 7 years later. In the photos we sent along with our invites (not pictured), the tree and the “sticky geranium” flowers are in the background.

  • Hand-painted Calligraphy: On almost every card, I use a calligraphy font I created especially for the wedding. I wanted to make a unique type style for our wedding that was whimsical and hand painted, but also slightly formal and embellished.
